The great part about this whole experience is that you and your family do not need to know the German language to participate in this program!  All the students from Braunschweig are proficient in reading and speaking English.  Also, most Germans speak some English, so while in Germany the language gap is not that big.  Plus, we’ll teach you some words and phrases to help you out while you’re in Germany!

The exchange program starts off in Omaha with our German friends staying with their host family for two weeks.  During this time, students from Braunschweig will take day trips exploring the culture, history, and community of Omaha.  The evenings and weekends are for the host family and their German student to do various activities outside of the planned program.

The start of summer vacation is when we travel to Braunschweig and stay with our host family for three weeks!  While in Germany we will go on day trips to learn about the culture, history, and community of Braunschweig and nearby towns.  Evenings and weekends are for the host family to be with us and do various activities outside of the planned program.  The city of Braunschweig also treats us to a full expense paid, 3 day/2 night stay in the Capital city, Berlin!
